Greetings,
In the last couple of years, I’ve made modifications to my diet. One of the items that I’ve decided to remove from my diet was white sugar. I started using Turbinado sugar, but realized I needed something that would dissolve easily in my smoothies. That’s when I discovered Agave (pronounced ah-GAH-vay) Nectar.
The nectar is made from a plant known in Mexico as aguamiel, or “honey water.” The taste of agave nectar is comparable, though not identical, to honey. Agave nectar is a real sugar, as opposed to an artificial or non-nutritive sweetener. It has properties similar to many sugars with one important exception: its glycemic index is significantly lower. This makes it a healthier alternative to many processed AND natural sweeteners.
I usually purchase Agave Nectar at either Whole Foods or Yes! Organics.
Blessings,
Yashieka
