Greetings,
I started meditating nine months ago and found it rather difficult in the beginning. My Shaman suggested I use mantras while meditating. What are mantras? Mantras, or simple chants, are short phrases packed with energy and intention – specifically designed to generate powerful sound waves that promote healing, insight, creativity, and spiritual growth. Mantras (Devanāgarī मन्त्र) originated in the Vedic tradition of India, later becoming an essential part of the Hindu tradition and a customary practice within Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. The use of mantras is now widespread throughout various spiritual movements which are based on, or off-shoots of, the practices in the earlier Eastern traditions and religions.
I found a couple of mantras in Healing Mantras by Thomas Ashley-Farrand. Healing Mantras is the most accessible guide written to the ancient practice of healing mantras. The author explains how and why mantras work and shows how to use them for everything from controlling habits to overcoming fear, from curing specific ailments to finding inner peace. In each of the more than fifty mantras, all translated from the original Sanskrit, Ashley-Farrand unlocks the power of every word, explains its appropriate application, and tells you how to pronounce it in easy-to-follow phonetic symbols.
Inside Healing Mantras, I found mantras for - Health – Worldly Success – Habit Control – Protection – Grief – Anger – Controlling Fear – Personal Attraction – Wisdom – Concentration and Mental Clarity – Healing Life Issues – and more!
