I’m not really a fan of plain ole oatmeal, so when I discovered how to dress my oatmeal up, I was thrilled. I got the following “recipe” (which I tweaked a little) from the folks over at Healthy Bites:
1/4 Cup of Rolled Oat
A handful of blueberries (enough for one serving)
1 Tablespoon of flax or hemp seeds
1 Teaspoon of Agave Nectar (optional)
1/2 cup of hot water
To ensure you received the full nutrients from the rolled oats, forgo the hot water and soak them over night. Now, that’s a power packing breakfast! Blue are an an antioxidant powerhouse, rolled oats are high in fiber, flax seeds are rich in rich in alpha linolenic acid(ALA), an omega-3, hemp seeds contain all the essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy human life, agave nectar’s low glycemic index makes it suitable for some individuals on low-carb or slow-carb diets.
